Your new company A large and reputable organisation within the education sector is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team on a 6month temporary basis. The organisation supports a diverse academic and research community and is recognised for its commitment to excellence, collaboration, and high-quality service delivery. Your new role Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Assistant Accountant will provide financial support across a range of research and general finance activities. This role plays a key part in supporting academic and operational stakeholders and ensuring accurate, timely financial information.Key responsibilities include: Supporting research finance activities, including research income invoicing and grant acquittals Assisting with yearend acquittals and preparation of supporting documentation Ensuring accurate expense coding between research and general activities Supporting the financial administration of research funding and project closures Preparing journals, general ledger reconciliations, and supporting monthend close processes Monitoring income and expenditure to ensure compliance with accounting policies and standards Preparing and assisting with financial and management reporting Providing financial guidance and support to nonfinance stakeholders Resolving financerelated queries from internal and external stakeholders What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: A tertiary qualification in accounting or a related discipline Nearcompletion or newly qualified CA/CPA status (or equivalent) Relevant accounting experience within a medium to large organisation Strong accounting knowledge with a high level of attention to detail Experience with general ledger reconciliations, journals, and financial reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Oracle or similar) is highly regarded.
