As a Systems Development Engineer, you will be part software engineer, part network emgineer, building the intelligent automation that allows complex systems to run and repair themselves. In this role, you will design and build the tools that keep 540,000 Amazonians connected across 500 locations worldwide. From telemetry systems that detect and resolve issues in real time, to automation that can configure and upgrade over 10,000 network devices at scale, your work will be at the core of how Amazon stays connected as it continues to grow globally. Key job responsibilities - Design and build entirely new software components, products, and services that improve operational efficiency across the network. - Develop scalable, reliable backend services and APIs with a focus on durability, security, and observability. - Create infrastructure monitoring, logging, and observability solution. - Build automation solutions using modern programming languages such as Python, Ruby, and Java. - Investigate complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long term fixes to prevent recurrence. - Leverage Amazon's AI tools to solve business problems, predict failures, and turn operational data into actionable intelligence. - 4 years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience - 4 years of building scripts, tooling, and automation for large-scale computing environments experience - Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes - 1 years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience - Bachelor's degree or equivalent - Experience with AWS, networks and operating systems - Knowledge of and experience with cloud infrastructure technologies - Experience in network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP) - Experience building tools for building, testing, releasing or monitoring Acknowledgement of country: In the spirit of reconciliation Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
