Description: WK Pty Ltd (trading as Malaymas) is a well-established Malaysian and Chinese restaurant located in North Fitzroy, Victoria, offering an extensive menu of authentic Malaysian and Chinese cuisine. Due to the business expansion, we are seeking a skilled and experienced a qualified and experienced Cook to join our culinary team. Key responsibilities: · Prepare, cook, and present a wide range of dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s recipes and quality standards. ·Ensure all meals are produced efficiently, consistently, and to the highest quality. ·Follow and enforce proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices in compliance with local health and safety regulations. ·Assist in daily kitchen operations, including mise en place, cooking, and plating during service periods. ·Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control, ordering, and rotation of ingredients. ·Adapt menus and accommodate special dietary requirements or allergies as needed. ·Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workstation at all times. ·Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely service. ·Receive and inspect deliveries to confirm quality, quantity, and freshness of ingredients. ·Support senior chefs with recipe development, new dish trials, and continuous improvement of the menu. · Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture. Skills required: · Completion of a Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent qualification is required. ·Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Cook or Chef in a commercial kitchen environment. ·Demonstrated culinary expertise, including strong knife skills and knowledge of various cooking methods. ·Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining attention to detail and food quality. ·Creativity and willingness to contribute new ideas and recommendations to enhance menu offerings and improve efficiency. ·Excellent time management and multitasking skills. ·Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a professional and cooperative attitude. ·A strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards. · Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required in a busy restaurant environment.
