Lead Data Engineer Your new company You will play a critical leadership role, working across cross-functional teams to modernise data architecture, uplift analytics capability, and support data-driven decision-making across a complex, enterprise environment. Your new role Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms and pipelines Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of data engineers Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists to translate requirements into data solutions Oversee the development and optimisation of ETL/ELT processes Drive adoption of modern cloud-based data platforms (data lakes, warehouses) Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance standards are maintained Conduct code reviews and enforce engineering best practices Manage integration across multiple structured and unstructured data sources Support DevOps practices, including CI/CD, testing, and monitoring of data pipelines What you'll need to succeed Proven experience in a Lead or Senior Data Engineer role (5 years) Strong expertise in modern data engineering tools (e.g. Spark, Databricks, Airflow) Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python or Scala Experience with data warehousing technologies (e.g. Snowflake, Synapse, BigQuery) Strong understanding of data modelling methodologies (Kimball, Data Vault) Experience implementing data governance and quality frameworks Exposure to real-time or streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, Event Hubs) desirable Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capability Experience within large, complex organisations (education, public sector, or similar) Exposure to enterprise data transformation programs Experience with reporting/visualisation tools such as Power BI Understanding of security and compliance in regulated environments What you'll get in return Work on large-scale, impactful data initiatives Collaborative and forward-thinking environment Flexible hybrid working model Opportunity to influence long-term data strategy What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
