As a Mechanical Engineering Technician at HYDAC Pty Ltd, you will be responsible for supporting the design, testing, installation and maintenance of hydraulic and mechanical systems, while helping ensure reliable performance, technical accuracy and compliance. This position requires strong technical problem-solving ability, attention to detail and a hands-on approach to hydraulic equipment and mechanical systems. Responsibilities and Tasks: Assist with the design and modification of hydraulic and mechanical assemblies, components and plant equipment used across HYDAC's fluid power and motion control operations. Prepare and update technical drawings, diagrams, test records and service documentation under the direction of mechanical engineers and engineering technologists. Select suitable tools, testing instruments and workshop equipment for the assembly, installation and servicing of hydraulic power systems and related mechanical components. Assemble, install and commission new or modified hydraulic units, filtration systems, cooling systems and associated controls to customer and project specifications. Perform field and workshop tests on hydraulic and mechanical systems, collect operating data and analyse results to support troubleshooting, optimisation and quality outcomes. Estimate material quantities, component requirements and labour inputs for fabrication, maintenance and system improvement work. Coordinate and monitor inspection, fault-finding and preventive maintenance activities for hydraulic plant, machinery and customer equipment to maximise reliability and uptime. Ensure completed work, system modifications and service activities comply with technical specifications, safety standards, quality procedures and contractual requirements. Liaise with internal teams and customers to provide technical support, prepare recommendations and help deliver practical engineering solutions for fluid technology applications. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying performance issues, recommending design or process enhancements and supporting efficient workshop and site operations. Qualifications and Skills: Relevant qualification. Minimum 1 year experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician Knowledge of hydraulic systems, mechanical assemblies and diagnostic testing methods. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify faults and recommend practical solutions. Salary: The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $123,200 p.a plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
