Mechanical Fitter – Casual (Day Shift) | Long-Term Opportunity Location: Near Altona, VIC Pay Rate: $60 per hour (inclusive of casual loading) Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime Available) Start: ASAP Overview We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established engineering company operating across industrial and marine environments. This is a casual role with strong potential for ongoing, long-term employment. The role involves both workshop and site-based work , supporting the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of heavy industrial plant and marine equipment . All work must be carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. About the Role You will be responsible for carrying out a range of mechanical fitting tasks across varied environments including plant equipment and marine vessels. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Fitting: Perform general mechanical maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment Dismantle, assess, and reassemble mechanical components and equipment Operate power tools, specialised equipment, and workshop machinery Operate lathes, milling machines, and standard workshop equipment Follow technical manuals and specifications Accurately capture and document equipment information Identify and recommend improvements to processes and systems Maintain awareness of modern technologies and equipment Maintenance & Repairs: Inspect, maintain, and repair plant and machinery to required standards Carry out work across multiple engineering disciplines Travel to and from job sites as required (manual vehicle use) WHS / Housekeeping: Follow all workplace health and safety procedures Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment Report hazards, incidents, and near misses Use PPE in accordance with requirements Requirements Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter Minimum 3 years post-trade experience Experience in industrial, heavy industry, or marine environments Strong technical ability and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals Current Working at Heights & Confined Spaces tickets (in date) Manual driver’s licence High attention to detail and strong safety focus Sound understanding of WHS requirements What’s On Offer $60 per hour (inclusive of casual loading) Consistent day shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) Overtime available Immediate start available Casual role with long-term opportunity Supportive and professional team environment
