Job Description Position: Financial/Accounts Reconciliations Officer Location: Canberra, ACT Start date: ASAP Duration: Approx. 9-month fixed-term contract Pay rate: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum plus super Citizenship requirements: Must have full Australian working rights Overview: This opportunity sits within a growing and evolving organisation undergoing a finance transformation to better support scale, efficiency and control. The role will play a key part in strengthening financial operations by ensuring reconciliations are accurate, up to date and well managed across multiple entities. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will take ownership of high-volume reconciliation processes, focusing on clearing historical backlogs and embedding consistency across transactional activities. You will also contribute to improving processes and supporting the development of standard operating procedures. Responsibilities: Perform daily and monthly high-volume bank reconciliations across multiple entities using Xero Manage credit card reconciliations, including corporate and director accounts Reconcile travel and accommodation expenses Conduct motor vehicle and fuel audits Process and reconcile employee expense reimbursements Clear historical reconciliation backlogs and bring accounts up to date Support standardisation of reconciliation processes across entities Assist in developing and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) Ensure consistent coding, documentation and treatment of transactions Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues promptly Escalate complex or systemic issues where required Maintain accurate audit trails and supporting documentation Experience/requirements: 2–5 years’ experience in a transactional or financial accounting role Strong hands-on experience with Xero, including automation and rule creation Experience working across multi-entity environments Strong reconciliation skills with high attention to detail Process improvement mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies Confident suggesting improvements and challenging existing workflows Ability to balance hands-on tasks with broader process thinking Strong sense of ownership and accountability Apply now or contact SOS Recruitment on 6260 8888 for a confidential discussion.
