The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced, detail‑driven Senior Interior Designer with a strong documentation focus to lead the technical delivery of complex interior projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives working independently while collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to translate strong design concepts into robust, buildable outcomes. You will take ownership of interior design delivery across all project phases, bringing deep technical expertise, rigorous attention to detail, and a commitment to design integrity. As a Senior Interior Designer you will: Lead collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams to develop innovative, high-quality design concepts that align with project vision, client objectives, and technical requirements. Take responsibility for the delivery of interior design across all project phases, from programming and concept development through documentation and construction administration, ensuring design integrity at every stage. Develop functional requirements and resolve complex design challenges through the investigation of multiple design solutions. Produce, review, and oversee detailed design documentation including drawings, schedules, and specifications, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with relevant codes and standards. Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of interior design and planning principles, building codes, construction methods, and contract documentation. Lead the selection and coordination of interior elements including materials, finishes, FF&E, colour schemes, lighting design, and space planning. Direct and contribute to design reviews, upholding rigorous standards of detail, quality, and execution. Coordinate effectively with architects, engineers, and other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions. Build and maintain strong client relationships, confidently interpreting client needs and articulating design decisions. Operate with a high degree of autonomy while fostering a collaborative studio environment; mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing across the practice. Contribute to business development activities, supporting project opportunities and studio growth. Represent and elevate the HDR brand within project teams, client engagements, and the broader design industry through professional leadership and advocacy. Assist and support team members across all phases of the interior design process as required. Perform other duties as needed. About You: You will bring: A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related discipline. Typically, 8 years’ experience in interior design, including strong experience in design development and detailed documentation of building interiors. Demonstrated experience producing drawings, schedules, and specifications. Strong technical knowledge of interior design documentation workflows, building codes, and construction methods. Creative design capability with strong attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate design decisions to clients and stakeholders. Proven ability to build and manage client relationships. Experience leading projects and mentoring or guiding junior team members. Advanced proficiency in Revit (required). Proficiency in SketchUp and Enscape (required). Experience with Photoshop and InDesign (required). Familiarity with Rhino and Grasshopper (advantageous). Working knowledge of BIM and rendering workflows. Interest or experience in sustainable design (desirable). A collaborative mindset with a proactive and adaptable approach. Willingness to contribute across multiple sectors and project types.
