Your Role as Lead - Financial Accountant This role ensures high-quality financial accounting, statutory compliance, and organisational financial stewardship across a complex, multi-portfolio not-for-profit environment. You will lead month-end and year-end processes, prepares consolidated financial statements, oversees asset and liability reconciliations, and ensures strong internal controls. You will play a critical role in cashflow reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial modelling, providing advanced technical expertise to support organisational performance and decision-making. This role will provide mentoring and technical guidance to the Finance Business Analyst, supporting capability uplift in data analysis, modelling and reporting and contributing to broader knowledge transfer through the development of templates, training materials and process documentation. You’ll deliver this role by: Manage month and year-end financial processes and ensure accurate and timely financial close. Prepare consolidated financial statements in line with AASB, ACNC and not-for-profit accounting requirements. Manage balance sheet integrity through comprehensive reconciliations and review of provisions, accruals, prepayments and asset/liability schedules. Ensure compliant and accurate revenue and expense recognition aligned with funding, grants and service delivery models. Prepare weekly, monthly and rolling cashflow forecasts and monitor liquidity, funding cycles and cashflow risks. Manage treasury functions including bank reconciliations, investment monitoring and maintaining authorised signatory controls. Contribute to annual budget development, financial modelling, scenario planning and periodic forecast updates. Provide financial analysis and insights across expenditure, revenue, cashflow and organisational performance. Prepare high-quality internal financial reporting for Executive and Board committees, including P&L, balance sheet and KPI dashboards. Coordinate external and internal audit requirements, including workpapers, evidence and follow-up remediation actions. What We’re Looking For Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance, plus CA/CPA (or equivalent) professional accreditation. Extensive experience in financial accounting within medium to large organisations. Strong technical knowledge of AASB, ACNC and broader NFP regulatory and reporting frameworks. Experience supporting audits, multi-entity structures and preparing Board-level reporting. High-level communication skills, with ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret complex financial and operational data. High proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., TechnologyOne) and BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI). Advanced Excel capability (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
