Due to our continued growth in our Mine Waste Engineering Practice, we are seeking an Associate Geotechnical/Mine Waste Engineer with 8 years experience to join our high-performing team as we continue to grow and shape the future of tailings and mine waste management. We service some of the largest mining clients domestically and internationally delivering a diverse project portfolio ranging from targeted studies for individual mine operations to multi-million-dollar, multi-disciplinary projects for global clients. Responsibilities Reporting to the Practice Leader – Mine Waste Engineering, you will be responsible for delivering projects in Tailings and Mine Waste Engineering, driving project excellence, client satisfaction and sustainable business performance. You will: Work on a wide range of tailings facility and dam projects across various stages of design and delivery. Actively participate in growing the growth and technical development of the team. Work alongside a team of international professionals, building your skills and contributing to a growing, diverse business.” Experience Our ideal candidate will have 8 years’ experience, including experience within a consultancy group, as well as: A minimum of 6 years of demonstrated experience in tailings and geotechnical engineering practice in a consulting environment. Tertiary qualifications in civil or mining engineering and current RPEQ and/or CPEng accreditation, or ability to obtain within 6 months. Capability to lead sections of projects contribute to design from concept to final delivery including liaising with clients Good report writing and communication skills (English) and strong ability to transfer these skills in preparation of proposals, engineering reports, design specifications and design drawings. Ability to plan and deliver geotechnical site investigations for tailings projects. Experience in the interpretation of field and laboratory testing of tailings, soils and rock, and. Knowledge and/or experience with at least one of the following design software GeoStudio, PLAXIS, Muk3D Understanding of the following areas and experience: : Tailings deposition strategies, Multi criteria assessments, Consequence category assessments, Operation, maintenance and surveillance manuals, and Conceptual closure plans Well-developed creative, lateral thinking and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior staff. Proven experience in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships.
