This is a contract opportunity with a major Australian infrastructure organisation. They run complex, large-scale IT programs and they need someone who can step in, take ownership, and deliver. No handholding. No ambiguity about what good looks like and know your way around a serious IT PMO. The details: Start: ASAP Duration: 6 months strong extension potential Rate: $1,000 per day super Location: Brisbane - hybrid Days: Full time, 5 days per week (2-3 in office) What you'll actually be doing: You'll be managing multiple IT applications projects concurrently - from initiation through to closure - inside a structured PMO environment. That means owning your Project Management Plans, schedules, cost models, RAID and change control registers, and reporting regularly to Steering Committees and senior leadership on progress, cost, time, and quality. You'll work closely with business stakeholders, Business Analysts, and Solution Architects to develop business cases and translate requirements into delivery. You'll manage vendors, partners, and contractors, keep them accountable, and ensure outcomes land on time and on budget. When projects close, you'll own the handover to support partners and the financial closure - properly, not just technically. This is a delivery role in the truest sense. You'll need to operate autonomously, adapt when priorities shift, and bring the kind of structured thinking that keeps complex programs on track in a commercial environment where the stakes are real. What they need: Around 10 years IT project management experience with a clear applications focus. Demonstrated ability to run multiple concurrent projects across both Agile and Waterfall methodologies - not one or the other, both. Strong stakeholder management skills from operational staff through to senior executives. Proficient in Microsoft Project and Jira. Experience with Project Online and SAP Project Management modules is highly desirable. Excellent written communication - concise reporting and decision papers, not essays.
