Position Purpose To diagnose, repair, service, and maintain diesel engines and mechanical systems of heavy and light commercial vehicles, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards. Tasks & Responsibilities Detect and diagnose faults in diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension, and other mechanical components Dismantle and remove engine assemblies and mechanical systems for repair or replacement Conduct detailed inspections using manufacturer specifications and service manuals Repair or replace defective components and ensure accurate reassembly Perform scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, and engine tuning Test systems and components after repair to ensure proper function and safety compliance Use diagnostic tools and computer systems to identify and verify mechanical issues Complete accurate service documentation, job cards, and parts records Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant workshop environment Support and mentor apprentices or junior mechanics when required Qualifications & Experience Essential: AQF Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology (or equivalent qualification) Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in diesel engine and heavy vehicle repair Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and repair skills Experience working with diesel-powered light trucks, heavy vehicles, and commercial fleets Benefits Competitive Salary Package Salary ranging from AUD $80,000 - $90,000 per annum plus superannuation , based on skills and experience.
