About the Role The Learning Support Officer (LSO) plays an essential role in delivering a seamless and high-quality experience for students and lecturers across EIT’s online and on-campus Higher Education programs. As a key member of the Student Support team, the LSO is responsible for the coordination of individual units, daily liaison with students and staff, and the efficient execution of administrative, learning system, and compliance-related tasks. This fast-paced role requires exceptional communication skills, high-level multitasking, and a strong student service focus. The LSO works collaboratively across departments, ensuring smooth unit delivery, accurate records management, and ongoing support of both students and lecturers. Description Key Responsibilities Student and Lecturer Support Serve as the primary point of contact for students and lecturers within assigned units. Respond to student queries via email and phone in a professional and timely manner. Maintain regular contact with students — via phone, face-to-face meetings, and email- to monitor their academic progress, engagement, and wellbeing. Monitor student participation in Moodle (LMS) and proactively reach out to students – via phone, face-to-face and email - who are not engaging with course materials or activities. After initial contact with the student, identify and report any concerns regarding disengagement to the Lead Learning Support Officer and Student Support Manager for further intervention. Provide technical and procedural support related to the Learning Management System (Moodle), assessments, webinar access, and academic calendar. Train and give ongoing support to lecturers and students on the use of Moodle, BigBlueButton, and other academic systems as required. Escalate suspected cases of academic misconduct to the Academic Integrity team or relevant academic staff, ensuring documentation and timely communication. Unit Coordination and Delivery Coordinate delivery of individual units in line with academic schedules and institutional policies. Liaise with the relevant department (Admin, Lecturers and Publishing) to ensure assessments, materials, and webinar scheduling are completed ahead of course delivery. Maintain and update Moodle pages for assigned units using approved templates and standards. Ensure all units meet the compliance requirements of the Higher Education Standards Framework 2015. Accurately collate and prepare results for submission to governance committees, including the Board of Examiners and Board of Studies. Administrative Support and Compliance Maintain accurate student records and documentation in line with institutional and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records of student support provided throughout the study period and ensure support tracking registers are kept up to date. Implement company policies and procedures consistently across all assigned responsibilities. Approve lecturer timesheets and invoices in a timely and accurate manner, in line with institutional processes. Assist with data collection, administrative tasks, and reporting during peak periods. Support with campus setup and closure activities (on-campus locations), and ensure learning spaces remain clean and tidy between classes. Assist other departments during peak operational periods or special projects, including orientation Monitor academic behaviour and report any irregularities or suspected breaches of academic integrity to appropriate personnel. Qualifications and Experience Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated history of providing high-quality student or customer service. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems. High level of attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and compliance tasks. Ability to remain composed and professional under pressure or during high-volume periods. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a geographically distributed team. Proficiency in digital tools, including: Microsoft Office Suite Moodle or other Learning Management Systems Webinar platforms such as BigBlueButton, Collaborate Ultra, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams Experience working in an educational environment, particularly liaising with students and academic staff.
