12 month minimum Contract to fire prototype explosives being researched by the Department of Defence Requires experience Explosive Ordnance qualifications or relevant industry training and experience, and Australian Citizenship essential (for security Clearances) $ Based on Experience 12 month full time contract, with potential to go longer Your Next Employer You'll be working with the R&D department for the Department of Defence (Defence Science Technology Group, DTSG) in Edinburgh. DSTG is currently supporting research into guided weapons prototyping. The Role The Firing Officer will, under direction, undertake the following major duties: 1. When authorised, will perform specific types of firings including a. Intentional functioning of detonators, b. High explosive charges c. Pyrotechnic devices, d. Rocket motors, e. Weapons, f. Gas guns g. Propellant charges 2. Prepare weapons, firing systems and/or explosive charges as appropriate 3. Assist in the maintenance of laboratories and equipment 4. Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments and process documentation. You Will Need Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in the following areas: 1. Storage, handling and firing of explosive ordnance 2. Handling and preparation of explosive devices and charges 3. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team 4. Basic electronics knowledge including and understanding of firing and instrumentation systems used with explosive ordnance.
