Due to growth, we're seeking a motivated and dynamic individual that leads from the front and brings teams together to join their team as a CNC Machine Shop Supervisor. The CNC Machine Shop Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations of a dynamic, custom CNC machining environment. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, precision-engineered components through effective team leadership, machine utilisation, scheduling, and process optimisation. The supervisor will drive safety, productivity, technical problem-solving, and team capability development while meeting strict quality and delivery standards in a fast-paced, customer-responsive environment. The Role: Lead daily operations of the CNC machine shop, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production of components. Coordinate job prioritisation with the Production Coordinator, controlling daily workflow, and machine loading schedules to meet customer delivery deadlines and internal targets. Provide technical guidance and first-line support to machinists on setups, tool selection, code interpretation, and issue resolution. Actively oversee the operation of all CNC and supporting machinery, ensuring correct setup, optimal tool usage, and compliance with machining tolerances and Safe Work Instructions. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce cycle times, and improve tool life and quality. Maintain real-time tracking of jobs and machine utilisation, escalating delays or risks to production targets early to remove unnecessary surprises. Collaborate closely with Senior Management, Sales and Engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of parts and smooth transition from design through to production. Uphold quality assurance practices, including in-process inspections, first-article approvals, and prompt response to non-conformances. Ensure daily prestart meetings are conducted, focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Recognition. Coach and mentor team members, including apprentices, developing skills and promoting cross-training to build a flexible, high-performing team. Provide feedback into quoting and estimation by offering insight into cycle times, complexity, setup requirements, and resourcing. Maintain and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules to ensure machine readiness and limit downtime. What we're looking for: Trade qualification in CNC machining or toolmaking, with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a CNC or precision manufacturing environment. Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills. Within this role you will be managing a tam of apprentices and machinist tradespeople (approx 14) In-depth knowledge of CNC processes, tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical machining issues. Strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Experience with job scheduling and production workflow planning.
