Key Duties : Safely positions, operates, and conducts daily safety checks on the delivery vehicle, reporting any defects or maintenance needs to ensure reliable operation. Loads and unloads mail and parcels using safe manual‑handling techniques, arranging items logically according to delivery sequence and securing them to prevent damage in transit. Reviews and verifies all loading documentation - such as manifests, delivery lists, and special handling instructions - before departure. Sorts, organises, and prepares mail for delivery, correcting misaddressed or misrouted items and ensuring all goods are accurately accounted for. Delivers mail and parcels to residential and commercial addresses in line with postal procedures, obtaining signatures or proof of delivery when required. Collects mail and parcels from designated pickup points, ensuring all items are scanned, recorded, and prepared for scheduled delivery runs. Returns undeliverable items to the appropriate facility, completing required documentation and following correct processing procedures. Maintains accurate records of delivered, undelivered, and collected items, as well as vehicle logs and any equipment used. Plans delivery routes and schedules to maximise efficiency, fuel use, and adherence to postal service timeframes. May handle payment collection for certain deliveries, issuing receipts and processing payments in accordance with postal policies. Applicants must have at minimum a relevant AQF Certificate II or III (ANZSCO Skill Level 4) plus one year full time or part time equivalent relevant work experience required; or at least one year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above; or at least two years full time or part time equivalent relevant work experience required.
