Payroll Officer (NZ) – Part-time (3–4 days/week) Location: Melbourne (or hybrid – adjust) Employment type: Part-time (3–4 days per week) Salary: $80,000 base (full-time equivalent) super (pro-rata for part-time) We’re looking for a NZ Payroll Officer who’s confident running end-to-end payroll, thrives in a process-driven environment, and enjoys working in systems. This is a high-impact role in a growing business with ~400 NZ employees (and increasing), where accuracy, compliance and customer service matter. You’ll work closely with our Payroll and People Systems team to keep payroll running smoothly, continuously improve how we work, and help us prepare for upcoming platform and process uplift over the next 12–18 months. What you’ll be doing Run end-to-end NZ payroll processing (high-volume, operationally busy environment) Interpret and apply NZ employment rules , leave, public holidays, terminations, and statutory requirements Manage IRD-related processes (tax codes, payday filing, reconciliations, and payroll compliance) Maintain payroll master data, allowances, and pay rule set-ups with strong attention to detail Investigate and resolve payroll queries with a calm, employee-first approach Support payroll reporting, reconciliations and audit-ready documentation Drive process improvements: cleaner inputs, stronger controls, better documentation, less rework Work closely with our time & attendance workflow and system integrations (experience with Humanforce is a plus) What you’ll bring Proven experience running NZ payroll (this is essential) Strong understanding of NZ payroll compliance and IRD requirements Confidence interpreting employment conditions and applying them correctly A systems/process mindset — you like improving how things work, not just processing pays High-volume payroll experience with strong accuracy and prioritisation Clear communication style and practical problem-solving Nice to have (not required) Micropay experience Humanforce time & attendance experience Experience in hospitality, multi-site, or fast-moving hourly workforces Exposure to payroll implementations, upgrades, or parallel testing Why this role Part-time flexibility (3–4 days/week) A meaningful systems/process focus (not just BAU) A growing NZ workforce and a team that values accuracy, collaboration and improvement Apply with your resume and a short note on your NZ payroll experience (pay frequency, volumes, systems used, and what parts you owned end-to-end).
