Position: Casual Tutor Location: Kip McGrath Education Centres, New Zealand About the Role This role focuses on delivering high-quality literacy and numeracy tuition, with a strong emphasis on preparing students for the NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA) . You will work closely with students, particularly at the Year 9 and 10 level , to build the essential skills required to meet national standards and successfully achieve their co-requisite qualifications. Key Responsibilities Deliver structured, engaging lessons in literacy and/or numeracy. Prepare students for NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA) . Apply targeted teaching strategies aligned with Year 9–10 curriculum expectations . Use the Kip McGrath methodology to build student confidence, independence, and engagement. Mark and provide clear, constructive feedback on all student work. Adapt teaching programmes based on reassessment data and individual learning needs. Build strong relationships with students and families. Provide timely and transparent progress updates to parents and caregivers. Essential Requirements Proven experience teaching Year 9 and/or Year 10 students, and/or demonstrated experience preparing students for NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA). Strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and NCEA co-requisite standards . Demonstrated ability to teach literacy and/or numeracy effectively across a range of abilities. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field. Relevant teaching qualification. Ability to meet the requirements of The Children’s Act 2014 . Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
