Role Purpose The Senior Financial Accountant will play an important role in the preparation & maintenance of financial data at Nexon, reporting to the Group Finance Manager. They will be responsible for assisting to maintain accurate financial records, implementing financial policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This position will collaborate closely with the finance team, senior management, and department heads to provide accurate & timely financial insights to drive business growth and profitability. This role also has an element of Project Management with the accounting for revenue and COGS across the business. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting: Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and compliance with accounting principles. Preparation of monthly group and departmental reporting with a focus on accuracy and business insights. Recognition of expense and revenue accruals. Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations. Work closely with AP and Payroll staff to ensure correct coding of transactions. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant financial, accounting and tax regulations, laws, and industry standards. Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance. Accounting for Revenue and COGS: - Reconciling revenue, cost of goods sold and margins for multiple projects across the business. - Reconciling WIP and Time & Materials invoicing. - End of month general journals and accounting adjustments. - Working closely with GM’s of various operational divisions to understand and provide insight to the status of customer projects. In particularly, analyse project billings, revenue, and utilisation determining the impact on total project profitability versus budgeted outcomes and costs. - Analysing and providing comments on variances for end of month performance reviews (vs actual, budget or forecast). - Reconciling affected Balance Sheet accounts. Coaching: Manage and develop the junior accountant, providing guidance, coaching, review and support. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team. Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate financial information to senior management, department heads, and other stakeholders. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support decision-making. Work with the Group Finance Manager to manage external stakeholders such as the Auditors/Tax Agents. Particularly assisting with the preparation of deliverables and project management of audit/tax returns. Review of Monthly BAS/PAYG lodgements with ATO. Process Improvement: Work with the Group Finance Manager to design best practice processes and internal controls. Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Financial Analysis/Ad hoc: Conduct in-depth financial analysis of actual results to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Provide accurate and timely financial reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations. Respond to queries from Senior Leadership and non-financial stakeholders promptly and with a high degree of accuracy. Experience & Knowledge CA/CPA qualified accountant with solid understanding of revenue recognition accounting standards and principles. Minimum of 4 years accounting experience in business services or broad accounting roles. Experience in writing technical papers, particularly in the M&A space. Experience in MS Dynamics is highly desirable. Industry Experience: Ideally, sector-specific experience in accounting for Revenue and COGS across Professional Services and Advisory. Strong Financial Acumen : ability to analyse large datasets, Intermediate to high level Excel skills in processing high volumes of data between subledger and main ledger systems. Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
