This is a full time role working 80 hours per fortnight on a 10 day on, 4 day off roster and will involve working outside doing physically demanding work. Duties and Responsibilities Ensure all general livestock operations are completed safely, accurately and efficiently by: euthanising livestock (captive bolt and/or licenced weapon) where required. undertaking drug control, including daily stock take and reporting. providing training in activities associated with Livestock Movements/Health. recording and reporting on the beast data while in Mort & Co care including, induction, movements, and exits sessions. setting up and running session in the computer records system. operating in the bud box to draft cattle. Ensure all livestock movements operations are completed safely, accurately and efficiently by: leading induction, drafting, trucking. undertaking reporting and completing NVD compliance documentation (incoming and dispatch). ensuring appropriate Market Specification ID, ensuring induction and exit cattle are allocated to the correct cattle class and market. performing market specific pen rides. undertaking cattle movements in backgrounding paddocks. undertaking record keeping for NLIS replacements. Applicants must have : Certificate III in an agricultural field or a combination of experience and expertise to perform the role C Class Drivers Licence Demonstrated ability to work independently in horse and cattle control. Ability to teach and guide others and assist with problem solving. Demonstrated ability in the application of and to teach others in cattle handling principles. Demonstrated ability to handle and/or provide advice on difficult cattle. Ability to train others. Knowledge and understanding of treatment programs and ability to administer relevant treatments. Demonstrated ability to make changes and improvements to ensure compliance with NFAS guidelines, in particular the five Freedoms relating to animal welfare. Ability to report on an animal that requires euthanasia and respond accordingly. Demonstrated communication, both written and verbal. Ability to build effective relationships with the team and with key stakeholders. Demonstrated application of, and advice on, quality assurance and record keeping with a high degree of accuracy and application relevant to the working environment. Responsible for own and others' values aligned behaviour. Demonstrate reasonable care for self and others, role model safe work practices. Reporting incidents and hazards and work to proactive safety solutions.
