AI Engineer | Brisbane CBD | Permanent Build it from scratch. A well-established Brisbane organisation operating in a highly regulated industry is hiring its first AI Engineer. This is a greenfield role - you'll shape the AI capability from the ground up, working closely with a dedicated AI Governance lead and key senior stakeholders across the business. What you'll do: Design and build custom AI solutions across Gen AI, ML, and NLP Develop chatbots, predictive models, RAG pipelines, and LLM applications Own the technical delivery of AI initiatives end to end Influence strategy while staying hands-on with code What you bring: 8 years in data/ML engineering and recent AI experience Strong hands-on skills in Python, AWS, and modern AI tools/frameworks Proven experience building custom AI/ML solutions (not just configuring vendor tools) A solid data foundation - pipelines, modelling, architecture, etc Experience in a highly regulated environment (banking, insurance, health, energy, or similar) The environment: Permanent role, Brisbane CBD (3 days in office) $160,000 - $180,000 superannuation First AI hire - real ownership and influence Fast-paced and transformation-focused, despite operating in a regulated space This isn't a role where you'll maintain someone else's models.
