About the Role You will lead the development of advanced hardware solutions from concept through delivery. By turning complex ideas into high-precision instruments, you'll contribute to projects that matter. This role blends creative problem-solving with hands-on engineering, including guiding manufacture, assembly, and commissioning, all while working in a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment. What You'll Be Doing Leading the development of innovative concepts and detailed designs for cutting-edge scientific instrumentation and equipment to be used in a radiation environment. Designing testing and commissioning plans to ensure smooth, safe, and reliable system integration. Solving complex technical challenges and minimising project risks through research, creativity, and engineering insight. Perform Engineering analysis and simulation akin to a purely scientific role, using high end analysis tools such as FEA software, input from X ray and magnetic property simulations and scientific software packages Acting as a key technical contributor within collaborative, multidisciplinary project teams. Supporting operational requirements through upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation. Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering growth and maintaining high standards of delivery. What You Bring Degree or higher in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering. Experience leading complex engineering projects and delivering high-quality designs. Ability to translate advanced concepts into practical, real-world solutions. Proficiency in 3D CAD and FEA software. Strong communication and collaboration skills, thriving in team-based environments. Passion for science, research, and creating technologies that make a tangible impact. Desire to mentor and support others while making your own mark.
