About the Internship Woolpert Australia is offering a Geospatial Internship opportunity through RMIT’s Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) program. This unpaid placement provides students with practical experience in a multidisciplinary environment, integrating academic learning with real-world applications. What You’ll Gain As a Geospatial Intern, you will: Observe and participate in daily operations across multiple disciplines including Mapping Production, Surveying, GIS Advisory & Consulting . Attend meetings and gain exposure to corporate functions such as Human Resources, Safety, Quality, and Finance . Develop hands-on skills in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) , spatial data analysis, and map creation. Engage with real-world projects to observe professional practices and gain insights into how geospatial technologies are applied in industry settings. Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced team members to support your learning and professional development goals of the Work Integrated Learning placement. Key Activities Observe and assist with spatial data workflows , including data collection, entry, and maintenance, under the guidance of experienced staff – contributing to learning objectives aligned with academic outcomes Learn and apply GIS concepts through supervised use of tools such as ArcGIS and QGIS, with a focus on developing analytical and visualization skills. Participate in team discussions and meetings , gaining exposure to multidisciplinary projects and professional practices.
