We're looking for a passionate cook with at least one to two years hands-on experience in Italian cuisine, ideally in a restaurant offering pizza, pasta, seafood and classic Italian mains. Must be confident with fast-paced a la carte service, quality control of premium ingredients, gluten free/dietary adjustments, and teamwork across kitchen and floor operations. Experience with authentic or modern Italian menu execution is strongly preferred. Applicants must have : Formal qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher). Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Creativity and passion for culinary arts. Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. Minimum 1-2 years of experience Duties and Responsibilities: Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook authentic Italian dishes such as pasta, risotto, pizza, sauces, and antipasti Follow traditional and modern Italian recipes accurately Ensure proper cooking techniques (e.g., al dente pasta, sauce reduction, wood-fired pizza baking) Ingredient Handling: Select, clean, and prepare fresh ingredients like vegetables, meats, seafood, and herbs Work with key Italian ingredients such as olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, basil, and cheeses (e.g., mozzarella, parmesan) Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies Kitchen Operations: Set up and organize the workstation before service (mise en place) Operate kitchen equipment safely (ovens, grills, pasta cookers, pizza ovens) Maintain speed and efficiency during busy service periods Hygiene & Food Safety: Follow food safety standards and hygiene regulations Keep the kitchen clean and sanitized at all times Store food properly to prevent spoilage and contamination Menu Execution & Presentation: Plate dishes attractively according to restaurant standards Ensure consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation Adapt to menu changes or seasonal specials Team Collaboration: Work closely with chefs, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team Communicate clearly during service to ensure timely order delivery Assist other team members when needed Quality Control: Check freshness and quality of ingredients Taste dishes before serving to ensure high standards Maintain authenticity of Italian Flavours Knowledge of Italian Cuisine: Understand regional Italian dishes (e.g., Tuscan, Sicilian, Roman styles) Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques in Italian cooking A salary of $75,000 - $80,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
