The opportunity Plays a key role in protecting and improving Council’s drainage assets and supporting safe, sustainable development as our new Drainage & Development Engineer. You'll lead drainage investigations and design, assess engineering development applications, and work closely with developers, consultants and internal teams to ensure infrastructure meets required standards. With a strong focus on flood mitigation, community safety and integrated water management, you'll combine your technical expertise with collaboration and customer service. What you’ll be doing Leading drainage investigations, design and asset management programs to support flood mitigation Assessing and reviewing engineering development applications and designs for compliance Coordinating developer funded drainage and engineering works through to construction Managing engineering information requests, including Legal Point of Discharge and easements Providing clear technical advice and collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders What you'll need to succeed Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) Strong experience in drainage engineering and development assessment Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and best practice guidelines Proven ability to manage consultants, contractors and diverse stakeholders Eligible for membership with Engineers Australia (or equivalent) To be considered for this role applications should include A maximum 2-page cover letter which should outline your interest in the role A current CV which includes key achievements & relevant qualifications Uncover more about this role in the Position Description attached below, or contact Careers via careers@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au Applications will be accepted until 11:30pm on 29 April 2026 .
