Job description Role Opportunity Client-side Lead Mechanical Engineer opportunity with a leading lithium producer. This site-based role operates on 5 days on, 2 days off DIDO roster to the Greenbushes site in Western Australia. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight of mechanical engineering activities on site, ensuring robust governance and high-quality delivery across projects. Typical site hours: 6.30am - 4pm Opportunity for a SME - Mechanical to provide technical leadership and governance across all mechanical engineering activities for the site. Qualifications & Skills: Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within brownfield project environments Background in mining or mineral processing operations, strong client-side experience Demonstrated experience in project planning, delivery, and contract management Proven capability in preparing tenders, scopes of work, BOQs, ITPs, and procurement documentation Strong commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control Experience leading and managing small engineering teams Excellent communication and technical writing skills Sound understanding of mine safety legislation and HSE management systems Proficient in Microsoft Office and project planning software Duties & Responsibilities: Lead the design and provide technical oversight for vessels; tanks; compressors; pumps and packaged equipment across site projects Work closely with structural and piping disciplines for the overall layout of facilities. Review and manage detailed designs to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and project requirements Develop practical, fit-for-purpose designs that optimise life-cycle costs while meeting HSE and operational objectives Produce high-quality engineering documentation to support approvals, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities Minimise rework through effective design coordination and a focus on quality execution Integrate inputs from contractors and consultants into engineering deliverables as required Ensure engineering outputs align with procurement and construction schedules Manage technical interfaces between operations, contractors, suppliers, and consultants Contribute to the development of project scopes, cost estimates, procurement strategies, and schedules Apply risk management principles & risk assessments where necessary Identify gaps in standards and specifications and drive initiatives for continuous improvement About Our Client World-leading lithium minerals producer delivering both brownfield and greenfield processing plant projects, along with supporting infrastructure, across the Southwest region of Western Australia.
