The Venue Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and daily operations of the Sunnyside Sliced Mentone venue. This role provides operational direction, supports financial performance, and ensures consistent food, service, and brand standards across the business. This position requires a commercially minded leader who can manage a fast-paced hospitality environment with confidence, professionalism, and strong attention to detail. Beyond traditional hospitality operations, the Venue Manager will oversee a diversified venue environment , managing the integration of multiple service streams including retail, takeaway, and in-venue experiences. The role works closely with the Director and external stakeholders to support venue-wide initiatives, events, and entertainment programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the holistic performance of the venue as a hospitality destination , balancing operational discipline with the energy and character that defines Sunnyside Sliced. Key Responsibilities 1. Operational Management • Oversee day-to-day venue operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and quality. • Maintain food and service standards in line with Sunnyside Sliced procedures. • Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory systems. • Ensure smooth service flow during peak trading periods. • Implement and maintain operational systems and procedures. 2. Leadership & Team Development • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop team members. • Provide clear direction, feedback, and coaching to the team. • Prepare and manage rosters to align labour costs with business needs. • Foster a positive, accountable, and professional workplace culture. 3. Financial Management • Manage venue budgets including labour, COGS, and operating expenses. • Monitor daily sales performance and key operating metrics. • Analyse weekly financial reports and provide performance updates to the Director. • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cost control, and revenue growth. 4. Customer Experience • Ensure a consistent and welcoming customer experience. • Address customer feedback and resolve service issues professionally. • Maintain strong presentation standards across the venue. 5. Diversified Hospitality Operations • Manage the integration of multiple hospitality service streams including retail, takeaway, and in-venue experiences. • Coordinate with external stakeholders and local authorities where required to facilitate venue initiatives, events, and entertainment programs. • Support the development of new operational initiatives that contribute to the venue’s performance and reputation. 6. Compliance & Risk Management • Ensure compliance with Food Safety, OHS, and RSA regulations. • Maintain accurate operational and compliance records. • Oversee venue cleanliness, maintenance, and equipment care. • Implement and monitor workplace safety procedures. Required Skills & Qualifications • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in hospitality management or a comparable high-volume retail environment. • Diploma in Venue Management, Business Administration, or a related hospitality field (preferred). • Current RSA and Food Safety Supervisor certification. • Strong leadership, organisational, and financial management capabilities. • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
