Learn more about us and what we do at aware.com.au Your New Role The Total Portfolio team is a central team within Investment Strategy. Aware's total portfolio approach is a collaborative and informed approach to making investment trade-offs. The team collaborates with all sector teams including Infrastructure, Property, Private Equity, Credit Income, Fixed Income and Public Market Equities. We are looking for an analyst with up to three years' experience and a desire to work in a fast-paced team environment to help us deliver excellent outcomes for members. The Total Portfolio team is responsible for: The strategic asset allocation of Aware's investment options. This includes capital market assumptions, competitive considerations, portfolio construction and scenario analysis. This is evolving with our total portfolio approach The evolution of the decision-making frameworks that inform and enable Aware's total portfolio approach across our investment options. This includes the use of agentic AI. Option-level management decisions such as foreign exchange settings and liquidity profiles. We aim to be the top-performing fund over a range of metrics. Our analysis and data-driven decision making is supported by a range of statistical and simulation techniques, forecasting methods and increasingly AI. Your New Role In this role of Investment Analyst, you will support and contribute to the following: Formulation of the investment strategies for the Fund's diversified investment options Data-driven and AI assisted total portfolio insights and decisions Total portfolio research initiatives including applications of AI Collaboration on projects with the broader Investment team and other business functions. Some of your key accountabilities include: Enhancing portfolio analytics and processes Contributing to the development of capital market assumptions Statistical modelling of time-series and cross-sectional data to support decision making Developing deep knowledge of source data, understanding and applying AI and assisting with database design and management Effective collaboration with sector teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the total portfolio How do you exceed our expectations? Necessary Either (i) an advanced degree majoring in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics; OR (ii) an advanced degree majoring in Mathematics with a focus on portfolio theory, optimisation and risk analysis. Strong academic transcript, especially in relevant subjects Strong understanding of financial modelling, statistics and quantitative measures of risk 0-2 years' experience Strong AI-assisted coding capabilities and interests (Python, R, Matlab) Basic understanding of asset classes and investment management practices Excellent communication and time-management skills A positive and curious approach to investments and risk. Not necessary but considered a plus Industry designation or working towards this (e.g., CFA, CAIA) is a plus Some experience in funds management, consulting or superannuation is a plus A relevant honours year or doctorate is a plus.
