Purpose of the Role BGIS is seeking an experienced Shift Technician – Electrical to support the delivery of planned and reactive electrical maintenance within a large, complex healthcare environment. Reporting directly to the Electrical Team Leader, you will work closely with BGIS teams, subcontractors, and site stakeholders to ensure critical electrical systems operate safely, reliably, and in line with compliance requirements. Your work will support essential infrastructure that enables continuous care and operations within a major hospital setting. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-focused, and collaborative, with a strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and supporting others within the team. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across systems including emergency lighting, switchboards, and high voltage equipment. Complete work orders within required timeframes using BGIS systems. Support and guide apprentices and collaborate with other technicians across the site. Coordinate and monitor subcontractors where required. Perform high voltage switching and assist with operation and maintenance of site generation and plant equipment. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with WHSE requirements and BGIS systems. Build positive working relationships with site stakeholders, suppliers, and team members. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and safe work practices. Education, Experience & Skills Essential: Certificate III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent). Current White Card and EWP licence. Experience in electrical maintenance, including exposure to high voltage environments. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork. Ability to work with digital systems and maintenance platforms. Desirable: High Voltage Switching Certification Experience mentoring apprentices or supporting team development. Exposure to healthcare or other critical environments. Broad understanding of related trades such as mechanical, plumbing, or refrigeration. Experience coordinating subcontractors and working within facilities teams. Workplace Flexibility This role is based full-time on-site in Southport , within a major healthcare campus. You will work a structured rotating shift roster averaging 42 hours per week , designed to provide balanced time on and off site. Shift Pattern: 3 x 12-hour day shifts 3 x 12-hour night shifts 4 days off 4 x 12-hour day shifts 6 days off 4 x 12-hour night shifts 4 days off (ongoing cycle) Why Join BGIS?
