About the role A long-established, family-owned manufacturing business (70 years) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter for their Gold Coast operation in Molendinar. You will perform preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, and improvement work on a wide range of in-house production machinery (CNC, coiling machines, furnaces, conveyors, shot peening, etc.). You’ll join a skilled, long-tenured team of fitters and receive structured mentorship (~6 months) from experienced operators to quickly master the equipment. Ideal for a trade-qualified fitter with strong MIG/TIG welding, fabrication, and mechanical troubleshooting skills (90% mechanical focus), who values stability and a supportive, family-oriented workplace with many team members of 10–30 years’ service. Duties Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on production machinery Repair and maintain CNC machines, coiling machines, furnaces, and conveyors Diagnose and fix mechanical faults Learn company-specific machines and processes through 6-month mentoring Carry out welding, fabrication, and boilermaking tasks as needed Work flexibly across a wide range of maintenance duties Skills and experience Welding/fabrication skills, boilermaking, maintenance fitting. Proficiency in MIG & TIG welding. Desirable: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic experience (support available in-house). Additional: Lathe experience or comfort working with lathes is a plus. Certifications & Tickets: Core tickets: Welding/fab, boilermaking. Additional tickets (e.g., confined space) are advantageous, but support/training can be provided.
