About the role Join one of Sydney’s leading hospitals supporting some of Australia’s most complex and life-saving transplant procedures. As an Operations Assistant (Theatres), you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our operating theatres and procedural areas. This is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring teamwork, situational awareness, and the ability to anticipate clinical needs. Prepare and maintain operating theatres in line with surgical lists, including equipment setup, instrumentation support, infection control, and safe handling of specialised items Provide perioperative support including patient transfers, positioning, and assistance with procedures such as tourniquet application and skin preparation Transport patients, specimens, equipment, and critical items safely across clinical areas Requirement to work across all shifts including day, afternoon and night shifts About you You are a motivated and reliable healthcare support professional who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is keen to develop within perioperative services. Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to follow clinical instruction, prioritise tasks, and respond in time-critical situations. Have a sound understanding of manual handling, patient safety, and infection control practices. Be physically capable of performing manual duties including patient transfers, equipment handling, and cleaning. Be reliable, adaptable, and flexible to work across a 24/7 rotating roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays. Experience in operating theatres, or procedural areas, with exposure to high-acuity, fast-paced healthcare environments is preferred but not essential. Why work at St Vincent’s?
