Wagga Wagga City Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Fitter/Welder to join our Botanic Gardens team. This hands-on role offers variety, working across fleet maintenance, fabrication, plant operation, and landscaping activities to support the delivery of high-quality services to our community. One (1) permanent, full-time position available. Remuneration of $3,087.34 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $3,704.81 gross per fortnight superannuation. Your new role : In this role, you will: Undertake welding and specialised fabrication for Council vehicles, plant, and equipment Perform field service repairs and support maintenance activities Assist with ordering parts and maintaining workshop operations Provide guidance and training to plant and equipment operators Operate and maintain workshop tools and specialised equipment Contribute to gardening, landscaping and general parks maintenance activities Support administrative tasks including maintenance scheduling and reporting This is a diverse role combining workshop-based trade work with outdoor operational duties, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and practical problem-solving. What you will need to succeed : To be successful in this role, you will have: Trade qualifications in Fitting, Metal Fabrication or a related discipline Current HR Driver’s Licence White Card (Construction Induction Certificate) Demonstrated experience in welding, fabrication, and plant maintenance Strong teamwork and communication skills The ability to work both independently and collaboratively A commitment to safety, quality workmanship and continuous improvement A genuine interest in the presentation of park facilities and a focus on Work Health and Safety are essential to the role.
