Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Cafe Manager to lead the daily operations of UR Caffe. This is a hands-on leadership role for a motivated hospitality professional who is passionate about quality food, specialty coffee, and delivering outstanding guest experiences. The Cafe Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of café operations — from menu collaboration and staff management to financial oversight and venue presentation — while upholding UR Caffe's commitment to freshness, quality, and community. Key Responsibilities Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to plan and update the breakfast and brunch menu, ensuring all dishes reflect UR Caffe's commitment to fresh, locally sourced produce and Asian-inspired flavours. Plan and coordinate any special functions or events hosted at UR Caffe, working with both kitchen and floor staff to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all guests. Oversee the sourcing and purchasing of food, beverages, and café supplies, negotiating with suppliers and managing costs in line with the café's budget. Maintain up-to-date records of stock levels and day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accurate inventory management and minimising wastage. Ensure that all areas of the café — including the dining space and kitchen — meet food safety and health regulations, and are kept clean, well-maintained, and presentable at all times. Engage with guests throughout service to gauge their satisfaction with the food, coffee, and overall experience, and address any feedback in a timely and professional manner. Recruit, train, and supervise front-of-house and kitchen staff, fostering a positive team culture that reflects UR Caffe's warm and community-focused values. Welcome walk-in guests and assist the floor team during busy service periods, including helping to take food and beverage orders as needed. Requirements Qualifications A diploma, advanced diploma, or associate degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related discipline — or equivalent qualifications recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) at Level 5 or above — is required. A current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain one) is essential. RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification is desirable. Experience A minimum of 2 to 3 years of full-time, hands-on experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality management role is required. Demonstrated experience in team leadership, staff rostering, and managing day-to-day operations in a busy café or food service environment is essential. Experience working in a specialty coffee or brunch-focused venue is highly regarded. Skills & Attributes Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse hospitality team. Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and health compliance requirements in a café setting. Proven ability to manage stock, control costs, and maintain accurate financial records.
