Why this role matters The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs, offering withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, counselling and harm reduction supports. Our AOD services provide individuals with a place of dignity, compassion and hope as they work toward recovery and improved wellbeing. About the role As an AOD Practitioner , you will support individuals experiencing problematic substance use by providing evidence-based intervention and case management. You will use a holistic, trauma informed approach to help participants build strategies for recovery and maintain wellbeing. Reporting to the Team Leader , this is a permanent full time onsite role located in The Basin, Victoria . How you will make an impact Embed trauma informed case management practices including assessment, monitoring, planning and review Deliver evidence based AOD interventions such as CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and Relapse Prevention Facilitate biopsychosocial education groups aligned with the national AOD Model of Care Provide holistic coordinated care through liaison, advocacy and collaboration with medical, psychological, social and community services Maintain accurate client records, document reportable incidents and uphold TSA standards for safe and quality practice What you will bring Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Counselling or a related discipline Certificate IV in AOD or the four AOD core competencies Demonstrated experience delivering evidence based AOD interventions and holistic care coordination Knowledge of trauma informed practice, mental health comorbidities and assessment/screening tools Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary environment Current Victorian Working with Children Check and Driver ’ s Licence What we offer The Salvos offer eligible employee’s a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including: Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free $2,650 meal entertainment benefit Generous Paid Parental Leave and Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) Access to EAP, wellbeing initiatives and Fitness Passport Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff supports including the Burra Burra Network and Cultural Leave Ongoing professional development and career advancement opportunities Rewarding, purpose driven work that positively impacts individuals and the community About us The Salvation Army (Salvos) is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.
