Their projects range from luxury homes to premium commercial spaces. They are seeking an experienced Painter & Decorator to join their team. The Role As a Painter & Decorator, you will work across a variety of sites delivering quality painting and decorating services. You will be responsible for ensuring all work meets our high standards and contributes to the overall excellence of the project. This is a full time position with an annual salary ranging from $77,000 - $85,000 depending on experience plus superannuation. Responsibilities Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate as well as protect interior or exterior surfaces, Read blueprints/instructions and examining surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary. Read work order or receive instructions from supervisor/homeowner regarding painting Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool and additionally remove old paint from surfaces, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting Ongoing painting maintenance of building interiors. Cleaning and preparing surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper and fixing woodwork. Filling holes, crack smoothing, and sealing surfaces. Applying coats of paint, varnish, or stain enamel to decorate & protect other fillers. Selecting and preparing paints to required colours by mixing portions of pigment and oil thinning and drying additives. Cleaning equipment work areas and adherence to OHS. Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc Fill nail holes, cracks and joints with appropriate material caulk, putty, plaster Select premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil for required colour Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools like brushes, spray gun and paint rollers Thinning drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colours Remove fixtures, like pictures, electric switchcovers, from walls prior to painting, using screwdriver Spread drop cloths over floors as well as room furnishings, and also cover surfaces, like baseboards, door frames and windows to protect surfaces during painting Create special effects like wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects by applying paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to Put up scaffolding or setting up ladders to perform tasks above ground level Wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover, using brush Apply wallpaper fabrics Estimating costs involved and negotiating prices Requirements Relevant trade qualifications desirable Relevant experience and skillset to perform aforementioned duties At least 12 months' experience in painting role in the painting and decorating industry At least 12 months' painting experience in a professional and commercial setting At least 12 months' experience in high-performance and protective coatings At least 12 months' experience using specialized materials suited for high-traffic environments: anti-graffiti, waterproofing membranes, epoxy floor systems Minimum 12 months experience applying advanced coating systems including epoxy, polyurethane, elastomeric and high durability exterior coatings Minimum 12 months experience planning and executing complex commercial painting projects At least 12 months' experience in chemical stripping, abrasive blasting, and power washing techniques for surface preparation Good understanding of colour theory and various finish types Physical dexterity to climb ladders, carry heavy equipment and to stand for long periods of time Additional tickets, EWP and relevant licenses will be looked upon favourably Willing to travel to different job sites as required by project demands Must have a valid driver's license
