PAYROLL OFFICER 6 MONTH CONTRACT $58.00 PER HOUR 9-5PM - MON-FRI IMMEDIATE START BELMONT LOCATION To provide efficient and effective support to the Supervisor Payroll to ensure that all salaries and wages staff are paid in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements, in a timely and accurate manner. Duties: In consultation with the Supervisor Payroll, ensure that the pays are calculated in line with Industrial Agreements, legislative requirements and relevant policies and procedures. Process end-to-end payroll in an accurate and timely manner including commencing and ceasing employees. Ensure that all relevant information and documentation is checked for accuracy and completeness and is processed in a timely manner Provide timely and accurate advice to managers and staff on matters relating to pay and leave entitlements. Maintain and provide advice on superannuation and salary sacrifice schemes as required, referring any complex matters to the Supervisor Payroll or appropriate superannuation scheme. Calculate and process employee adjustments, leave audits and terminations in accordance with industrial instruments. Prepare and process payments to payroll creditors within the required time frame. Maintain the HRIS including all employee maintenance incorporating all job and entitlement variations. Ensure payslips and pay summaries are reconciled and issued within designated time frames. Ensure employee pay records and details are kept in accordance with Industrial Agreements and legislative requirements. Maintain appropriate documentation and provide information and advice on the processing of Workers Compensation Claims. Assist the Supervisor Payroll in providing statistical information and reports both internally and externally as required. Maintain and provide accurate information for the Australian Taxation Office in accordance with requirements. Assist the Supervisor Payroll with the administration of the computerised HR/Payroll system, including upgrades, testing, modifications, troubleshooting and maintenance as required. Actively seek and report on methods of improving systems of work, policies and practices, to ensure the continuous improvement of Business Management Systems. Undertake other duties as directed within the scope and level of this position as directed by the Supervisor Payroll. Requirements: Previous relevant experience in the administration of a payroll function working with a computerised payroll system within a medium sized, multidisciplinary environment. Aurion experience highly desirable. Proven ability to interpret and apply industrial agreements as they relate to payroll. Previous exposure to Workers Compensation and superannuation systems. Excellent numeracy and analytical skills. Highly developed organisational and administrative skills with proven ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines. Ability to apply attention to detail and complete tasks with a high level of accuracy. Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people to ensure delivery of a high level of customer service. Ability to work effectively under pressure, both as a team member and individually with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise initiative and good judgement when required. Proven ability to apply the appropriate level of discretion and confidentiality to the role. Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience in using a computerised payroll system. Good written communication skills including the ability to undertake basic research tasks. Possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last twelve months).
