We are partnering with a public sector organisation seeking a Payroll Officer to support the Payroll Supervisor in ensuring all staff are paid correctly, on time, and in line with company policies and legal requirements. This is an initial six-month contract based in Belmont, working full-time Monday to Friday, with hours from 8:30/9:00am to 4:30/5:00pm. Key Responsibilities Ensure payroll is processed in line with agreements, legislation, and policies. Manage end-to-end payroll, including employee onboarding and termination. Check and process payroll data accurately and on time. Provide advice on pay, leave entitlements, and related matters. Handle superannuation, salary sacrifice, and refer complex issues when needed. Process adjustments, leave audits, terminations, and payroll-related payments. Maintain HR/payroll systems and keep employee records accurate and compliant. Reconcile and issue payslips, summaries, and required tax information. Support reporting, system maintenance, and workers compensation processes. Follow workplace policies (safety, conduct) and contribute to continuous improvement and other assigned duties. Requirements Experience in payroll administration using a computerised system in a medium-sized environment. Aurion system experience. Ability to interpret and apply industrial agreements. Knowledge of workers compensation and superannuation processes. Strong numeracy and analytical skills. Excellent organisation and time management with ability to meet deadlines. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work independently and in a team under pressure. Sound judgement, initiative, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Full Australian working rights and possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last twelve months).
