We are seeking an experienced General Manager – Asset Management to lead, mentor and support a high-performing team, oversee portfolio performance and drive best-practice processes across a substantial Victorian property portfolio. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Melbourne’s CBD. The role: In this role you will: Provide day-to-day leadership and operational support to a team of Asset Managers, stepping in for leave coverage and periods of transition as needed. Train, mentor and coach managers to ensure consistent performance, professional development and adherence to high service standards. Coordinate and facilitate regular team meetings, including agendas, logistics and meeting minutes. Conduct structured one-on-one check-ins with managers, reviewing portfolio activity (lease renewals, vacates, key tasks) and tracking progress over time. Own and manage a small portfolio of approximately 28 properties, ensuring they are managed to an exemplary standard. Develop, refine and maintain operational processes, procedures and communication templates (letters, emails, SMS) for the department. Oversee key operational functions including invoice approval workflows and insurance renewals to ensure compliance and timeliness. Assist with recruitment for the Asset Management team and act as an escalation point for complex landlord and tenant matters. Contribute to the Executive Leadership Team, bringing operational insights into broader business strategy and decision-making. About you: You will be an experienced property or asset management leader who enjoys balancing strategic oversight with hands-on support. We are looking for someone who: Has strong leadership experience within property/asset management, including mentoring and developing managers. Is highly organised, process-focused and confident building and maintaining procedures and templates. Is comfortable providing performance oversight, giving feedback and holding others accountable in a supportive way. Enjoys variety – from managing a small portfolio through to project work, meetings, recruitment and executive-level discussions. Communicates clearly and professionally with landlords, tenants and internal stakeholders, especially when resolving complex issues.
