Overview: Full-time, Continuing position $116,551 - $131,257 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, and hybrid ways of working About You This role is ideal for someone who understands risk, geopolitics and national security and enjoys helping others make sense of complex issues. As Senior Advisor, Engagement at the newly created Global Resilience Office (GRO), you will build the university’s global risk literacy by designing and delivering clear and impactful communications, training and engagement activities for academic staff, leaders and managers, and professional staff. You will turn abstract or technical risk concepts into practical guidance that supports better decision-making across teaching, research, and international engagement. You might come from national security, defence, corporate security and risk, , or higher education, but you will be confident communicating with diverse audiences and building trust. This role offers the chance to work in a small, influential team, shape a new engagement strategy, and contribute to a pioneering university function focused on global resilience and geopolitical risk. To be successful in this position, you’ll have: Relevant experience, preferably in the areas of national security, defence, intelligence, international affairs, corporate risk and security, engagement and communications and a postgraduate degree. Demonstrated experience in engagement, outreach, communication or capability development in a complex organisation. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex, sensitive or technical topics into clear, persuasive and risk-informed advice and guidance to diverse audiences. Experience coordinating training programs, events, briefings, campaigns or multi-stakeholder initiatives. Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries with academic and professional staff. Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. High levels of judgement, discretion, integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive issues. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while contributing to a small, strategic team. A familiarity with the Commonwealth’s and allied governments’ policy settings and legislative frameworks around national security, defence, research security, export controls, autonomous sanctions, foreign interference, and other global risk domains.
