Swinburne University of Technology is offering a fully funded 3-year PhD scholarship in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where you’ll be part of a leading research team tackling one of today’s most important challenges: creating innovative, sustainable, and high-performance materials for tomorrow’s infrastructure. As part of the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub, you’ll work alongside world-class academics and industry experts to: Reimagine waste materials as valuable resources Design and test sustainable structural elements Help translate advanced lab discoveries into real, commercial-scale applications This is your chance to shape the future of engineering materials while building strong research and industry connections. About You We’re seeking a motivated and curious researcher who has: Hands-on experience with experimental testing of materials Skills in material preparation, fabrication, and prototyping Experience in 3D modelling (CAD) and computer simulation Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials (stress, strain, deformation) Ability to write clear technical reports and communicate ideas effectively A collaborative mindset, with the enthusiasm to work in a supportive team environment Qualifications Masters degree or Bachelor (Honour) degree in Civil Engineering, or Construction, or Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
