2:1 FIFO Roster Work on the World’s Largest Radio Telescope Industry Leader, Tier 1 We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join a landmark infrastructure project delivering the Square Kilometre Array (SKA-LOW) — the world’s largest radio telescope and a once-in-a-generation scientific initiative. This is a FIFO 2:1 contract role working in a remote location, with flights, accommodation, and meals provided , offering the opportunity to contribute to a globally significant project at the forefront of space science and engineering. About the Role: Reporting to the Project Manager, you will oversee the mechanical, hydraulic, and fire systems scope across multiple facilities during the construction and commissioning phases . This includes HVAC, chilled water, compressed air, and gas suppression systems. You will play a key role in subcontractor management, multidisciplinary coordination, quality assurance, and site safety in a remote FIFO environment. Key Details: Flat Day rate: $550-600 per day $150 LAFHA per day FIFO roster: 2 weeks on / 1 week off Hours: 6:00am - 5:00pm, 11.5hrs p/day & 80hrs p/week Location: South Murchison, WA Contract period: 5 January to 29 May 2026 Key Responsibilities: Manage and supervise mechanical subcontractors on site Oversee installation and commissioning of: HVAC and chilled water systems Fire protection systems Compressed air and gas suppression systems Coordinate closely with electrical and structural teams Raise and resolve technical queries and construction issues Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with Australian standards Support QA/QC documentation and test inspections Prepare progress reports for the Project Manager Promote and lead strong safety practices in a FIFO environment About You You are a proactive, solutions-focused engineer who thrives in complex, remote projects and works collaboratively across disciplines.
