Few operations roles offer the opportunity to coordinate initiatives that influence an entire industry. As Head of Operations at AMTA, you will sit at the centre of Australia’s mobile telecommunications sector, ensuring national programs deliver meaningful outcomes for sustainability, safety and digital inclusion. This role sits at the intersection of operational delivery, industry stewardship and government engagement, at a time when circular-economy outcomes and device-lifecycle management are becoming increasingly important. The Big Picture: Leading Australia’s Mobile Industry Initiatives AMTA is Australia's peak body for mobile telecommunications. The trusted voice of an industry that connects close to 28 million Australians and underpins the nation's digital economy. AMTA brings together mobile network operators, network equipment vendors, device manufacturers and infrastructure partners, working with government and regulators to support industry collaboration, policy engagement and responsible stewardship across the sector. As Head of Operations, you will oversee a portfolio of nationally recognised initiatives that sit at the heart of that stewardship mission: MobileMuster Mobile Device Safety Program (MDSP) Radio Frequency Safety Program (RFSP) Social Impact & Digital Inclusion Initiatives The Opportunity This is not a traditional corporate operations leadership role. AMTA operates with a small, highly experienced team, meaning every leader contributes directly to outcomes. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will coordinate industry programs that operate at a national scale, working with members, interfacing with the AMTA Board, senior telecommunications leaders and government bodies. For the right leader, this role offers a rare combination: the ability to influence outcomes across an entire industry while remaining closely connected to operational delivery. How This Role Moves Your Career Forward For an experienced operations leader, this role represents a shift from organisational leadership to industry-wide impact. Industry Diplomacy: Build consensus across commercial organisations, government stakeholders and industry partners. National Program Leadership: Oversee logistics, reporting and financial management for nationally significant programs. Policy Influence: Collaborate with policy leaders and regulators to shape industry sustainability and safety standards. What You Will Be Working On This role spans strategic leadership and operational execution across AMTA’s key initiatives. Industry Program Management: Accountability for MobileMuster, MDSP and RFSP performance and delivery. Operational & Financial Leadership: Oversight of budgets, P&L performance and operational planning. Managing recycler partnerships, collection networks and compliance reporting.
