Job Description We are seeking a dynamic Breaking News Reporter to join our Docklands-based news team, working at the forefront of local and national discourse in partnership with editors from both The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald. This is a prime opportunity for a sharp, fast-paced journalist to shape the stories that matter to Victorians as they happen. Day to day you will: Produce clear, accurate, and balanced stories with speed and precision. Ensure all reporting maintains the highest standards of editorial quality and ethics. Uphold rigorous legal standards across all copy to ensure compliance. Take full ownership of news cycles, following up on developing stories as they evolve. Apply expert news judgment and a deep understanding of current affairs to every piece. Thrive under pressure to meet strict deadlines in a fast-moving newsroom environment. Qualifications What you'll bring: Proven experience working within a high-pressure newsroom. The ability to respond instantly to breaking news events with accuracy. Exceptional writing and communication skills tailored for a broad audience. A strong network of contacts and the ability to identify key voices for comment. A commitment to maintaining accuracy and integrity under tight time constraints. The flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends, early mornings, nights, and public holidays. Additional Information The role is a 12-month contract opportunity, based in our Docklands office and will include morning, day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays on a rotating roster.
