The Opportunity This role exists to support the Production Supervisor in running day-to-day operations across a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You'll provide practical leadership to the team, help solve problems in real time, and ensure the shift hits its targets without compromising safety or quality. You'll act as the link between the floor and leadership — translating direction into action and escalating issues early. This is a working 2IC role, where leadership means being actively involved in operations every shift. You'll be on the floor, leading from the front, supporting the Shift Supervisor and making sure production runs safely, efficiently and to standard. It's about 80% hands-on, 20% coordination and reporting. If you've been a leading hand or senior operator and you're ready for the next move, this is your opportunity. Key Responsibilities Supporting the Shift Supervisor with day-to-day production oversight Providing hands-on leadership to operators and labour hire (indirect team of up to 12) Troubleshooting machinery and process issues to minimise downtime Monitoring output, quality and consumables Coordinating labour coverage to ensure uninterrupted production Training and mentoring team members to lift capability Embedding lean principles and eliminating waste on the floor Supporting WHSE initiatives and championing a “Never Walk Past” culture Reporting shift performance and issues clearly and promptly About you Experience in a manufacturing or production environment Exposure to a team leader, leading hand or supervisory capacity Strong mechanical or technical aptitude Ability to build relationships across operators, maintenance and leadership Confident problem-solver who stays calm under pressure Organised and disciplined with planning and prioritisation Safety-first mindset A trade or engineering background is advantageous but not essential.
