The male and female secure centres are reception and remand facilities. Both centres accommodate mainstream with the male centre also accommodating protection prisoners. Townsville Correctional Complex also has both a male and a female low custody centre. The centre supports laundry, tailor shop, metal shop, kitchens, and farm industries for employment of prisoners. In addition to centre requirements, the laundry and tailor shop provide services under contract to the community. Prisoners from the low custody sites also deliver community service projects in the Townsville community. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to collaborate and work effectively and sensitively with a diverse range of colleagues and individuals in custody. As a member of this team, you will also: Conduct independent risk assessments of harm to self or others, including acute or chronic risk Provide psychoeducation related to mental health conditions, symptoms and treatment options to individuals Deliver individual or group-based skill acquisition focused interventions aimed at developing coping skills and building resilience Maintain a high level of knowledge and and contemporary understanding of psychopathology, diagnostic classification systems and clinical and psychometric assessment tools.
