About the Role This is a rare opportunity to join BOQ as a Relationship Executive with a clear mandate to build something from the ground up. With no inherited customer book, this role is designed for a commercially minded relationship banker who is energised by creating momentum, developing new connections and establishing a strong presence across diversified industry segments. You’ll be instrumental in delivering BOQ’s growth strategy by originating new customer relationships and building a high‑quality, sustainable portfolio that reflects our values and long‑term approach to banking. As a Relationship Executive at BOQ, you’ll bring our relationship‑focused model to life by engaging deeply with customers from day one. You’ll invest time understanding their businesses, industries and ambitions, using this insight to structure thoughtful, tailored banking solutions that support growth over the long term. This role is not about transactional wins, but about building trusted partnerships that endure. You’ll own the end‑to‑end journey, from sourcing and structuring opportunities through to settlement and ongoing portfolio stewardship, while partnering closely with credit, product, risk and operations teams to deliver seamless, high‑quality outcomes. You’ll also play a key role in strengthening BOQ’s presence in the market, building referral networks with accountants, brokers and industry partners, and representing the bank at events and forums. As your portfolio grows, you’ll help embed disciplined risk management, strong compliance and customer advocacy, ensuring your book is both profitable and sustainable. Through your work, you’ll directly contribute to BOQ’s purpose of building social capital through banking — creating value for customers, communities and the broader economy. About You You’re a self‑starter who thrives in an environment where success is built through initiative, relationships and credibility. You bring experience in commercial or business banking and are confident originating new business, developing networks and converting opportunities into long‑term customer relationships. You’re comfortable working with financials and credit, and you understand how to balance growth ambitions with sound risk and compliance practices. Naturally curious and commercially astute, you enjoy learning about different industries and spotting opportunities where others might not. You’re proactive, resilient and motivated by building something meaningful, rather than inheriting the status quo. Strong communication comes easily to you, and you’re able to build trust quickly with customers, referral partners and internal stakeholders alike. Most importantly, you’re aligned to BOQ’s values and relationship‑led culture. You believe banking is about people first, outcomes second, and numbers last. You lead with integrity, accountability and optimism, and you want to be part of a bank that is proudly human, deeply connected to its customers and focused on creating long‑term value — not just short‑term results.
