Position : Chef Husky Bakery & Café is a trusted bakery and cafe group known for its delicious range of artisan breads, pies, pastries, cakes, sandwiches, burgers, salads and speciality coffee under the Huskisson Bakery & Cafe and Bakehouse Espresso Group, Production Cafe & Bakehouse brands across the Shoalhaven region. With a strong focus on quality, community and great customer experiences, the group blends traditional and modern cooking and baking techniques with fresh, locally loved flavours. The cafe is now looking for a talented chef to join its passionate team and help continue its reputation for excellent food and service. Salary range: $70,000-$90,000 per annum Location: Huskisson, NSW 2540 Key Responsibilities include but not limited to: Prepare and cook a variety of fresh meals with special requirements and customised order, ensuring consistent quality, presentation, and portion control across all menu items. Oversee the preparation of meals and baked items such as pastries, sweet items, waffles, etc, ensuring freshness and quality. Monitor kitchen operations to maintain cleanliness, food safety, and compliance with hygiene standards. Assist in menu planning and recipe development, offering creative ideas for seasonal dishes and specials. Manage and monitor stock levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients. Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to health and safety standards. Perform calculation of food and labour cost. Ensure proper portion control and minimize food waste while maintaining high culinary standards. Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of meals. The successful candidate must meet the following criteria Minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma of Hospitality or related field is preferred; however, substantial relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications. Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience as a Chef Minimum 1 year of Australian work experience in a similar cafe style cooking is mandatory. Available to work on both weekdays and weekends. Understanding of Australian food safety and HACCP. Skills and Attributes: Strong culinary skills Up to date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes Knowledge of food hygiene and preparation standards is required. Attention to detail Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment Leadership skills Time management skills to efficiently meet production timelines. Full work rights are required.
