About the Opportunity A leading Queensland energy sector organisation is seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join a major transformational portfolio delivering a next-generation Energy Management System. This is a high-impact role within a complex Operational Technology landscape, where you'll be responsible for designing, building and maintaining scalable automated testing solutions that provide assurance across environments, integrations, configurations and critical operational workflows. You'll support the full test lifecycle — from requirements capture and test design through automation, execution and reporting — enabling continuous regression coverage as environments stabilise and defects are remediated. Your work will directly support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), UAT, parallel maintenance and production release gating. What You'll Be Doing Designing and implementing automation frameworks supporting UI, API, integration, database and system-level validation across SCADA and EMS platforms Building reusable regression suites for use across project test phases and by BAU teams post go-live Automating system readiness checks including smoke tests, health checks, integration validation and critical-path display availability Validating data integrity across EMS, SCADA, historians and related systems using automation that understands underlying database structures and telemetry mappings Integrating automation outputs with Jira and Xray for full traceability and governance Leveraging a blend of scripted automation and AI-enabled techniques (self-healing locators, intelligent visual comparison, AI-assisted test generation) within enterprise governance standards Maintaining detailed documentation of test cases, scripts and execution results with full traceability to business and technical requirements What You'll Bring 5 years of hands-on test automation experience, with strong emphasis on UFT for Windows-based applications within an Operational Technology environment Proven experience designing and building automation frameworks from the ground up Full-stack development experience across Go, C++, Java, Rust or Python (backend) and HTML (frontend) Sound understanding of SCADA systems and Energy Management Systems, including protocols and operational workflows Experience with ALM, Jira and Xray ISTQB or equivalent testing certification Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills For further information and a confidential chat, please reach out to Matthew Cameron on matthew.cameron@empiregroup.com.au or 0450 207 555.
