Your New Role and Responsibilities At Leidos Australia, our Cloud Managed Service (CMS) team is a hub of technical excellence, supporting mission critical programs across Defence, Intelligence, and Federal Government portfolios. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be a trusted technical specialist operating with a high degree of autonomy in secure, highly regulated environments. You will balance hands on engineering delivery with technical leadership, engineering rigor, and a strong focus on customer outcomes—contributing not only to solutions, but to the long term capability of our cloud engineering workforce. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys influencing outcomes across multiple programs, mentoring others, and shaping cloud capability to meet future customer and security needs. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments (primarily AWS and/or Azure) aligned to program, architectural, and security requirements. Provide senior engineering input into cloud architecture decisions, patterns, and standards across Defence and Federal Government programs. Lead and contribute to cloud migrations from on‑premises or legacy platforms, ensuring operational stability and minimal service disruption. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and automation using Terraform (preferred) and CI/CD pipelines to improve consistency and delivery efficiency. Uplift cloud security posture and operate effectively within a matrix engineering model, influencing standards, outcomes, and mentoring junior engineers. About You and What You'll Bring Demonstrated delivery of secure cloud environments supporting Defence or Federal Government customers in highly regulated, mission‑critical contexts. Strong capability in improving automation, repeatability, and deployment quality through Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices. Proven ability to strengthen security and compliance outcomes through collaboration with cyber, risk, and accreditation stakeholders. Experience building trusted relationships with engineers, architects, and operations teams while working as a senior technical authority without line management. A collaborative, mentoring approach that uplifts cloud engineering capability and supports future‑ready skills and standards across multiple programs. This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a NV-1 level security clearance.
