We also support industry-led initiatives to build skills and capacity. We manage: Disputes and complaints about building, renovation, trade or specialist trade work on residential and non-residential buildings. Inspections and compliance for building quality in residential construction. Licensing for tradespeople, design practitioners, and certifiers. Policy development and reform of building laws in NSW. We engage with a wide range of subject matter experts across industry, the community, the Department of Customer Service and other government agencies to develop a comprehensive evidence base to inform Government decisions on housing and building industry issues. The team also comprehensively review recent research and innovative solutions to create future focused policy to support the Minister to develop and implement legislation. There will be opportunities to work on other innovative policy related projects within Building Commission NSW. The current pipeline of reforms has a significant amount of support material requiring development and project management so if you enjoy variety and have an agile mindset, then this role could be for you. The successful candidate must be highly organised, proactive and practical. Your day-to-day -Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence-based options, and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks -Provide expert policy advice and information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate the appropriate interpretation and implementation of policies and support Agency and/or Government policy initiatives -Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to, the identification and development of policy solutions and to inform policy decision-making -Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and/or implementation of policies to identify issues and ensure the achievement of desired outcomes -Mentor and guide policy officers and support staff, ensuring compliance with governance and quality requirements, to successfully deliver policy priorities and initiatives -Prepare correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs, that are informative and aligned with agency requirements, to respond to Agency and/or Government requests -Provide support and coordination of the Branch’s communications, human resources and procurement activity, including record maintenance and governance To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: -Strong critical thinking and analytical skills -Project management experience -Exceptional verbal and written communication skills -Demonstrated ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders -Proven ability to manage and deliver on competing priorities -The ability to think on your feet and take into account the strategic impact of decisions What we need from you An up-to-date CV (no more than 5 pages) and a brief cover letter (2 page maximum) outlining how your skills and experience are aligned to the role.
